Why Poland

Six reasons Poland leads Central Europe for investment

A door to the EU single market

An EU member since 2004 and part of Schengen. One company registered in Poland sells freely across 27 countries.

Competitive costs

The average wage is about USD 2,500 a month, well below Western Europe, with European production quality.

Incentives nationwide

The Polish Investment Zone grants a 10–15 year corporate income tax exemption at any location in Poland.

A Baltic logistics hub

The ports of Gdańsk, Gdynia and Szczecin–Świnoujście, plus motorways linking Eastern and Western Europe.

Its position between Eastern and Western Europe makes Poland the freight gateway to Central Europe.

  • Four main Baltic ports, including the deep-water container terminal in Gdańsk
  • More than 25 intermodal terminals
  • About a 5-hour flight from the Gulf

Gulf angle: Sea freight from Saudi ports to Poland takes 19 to 56 days, with openings in warehousing and distribution.

Real estate & tourism

A mature office and warehouse market, and historic cities that draw millions of visitors a year.

  • Modern warehouses around Warsaw, Poznań and Silesia
  • Hotels, spa resorts and mountain resorts
  • Growing demand for rental housing in big cities

How to start

From idea to operating company in six steps

Choose a legal form

The limited liability company (sp. z o.o.) is the most common vehicle for foreign investors, with minimum capital of PLN 5,000. A joint-stock company (PLN 100,000) and a simple joint-stock company (P.S.A., from PLN 1) are also available.

Register the company

Registration in the National Court Register (KRS) is done online via the S24 platform or by notarial deed. The company gains legal personality on entry into the register.

Tax and statistical numbers

The company receives its NIP tax number and REGON statistical number automatically on registration, with no separate applications.

Bank account and VAT

Open a business bank account and register for VAT with the tax office before starting taxable activity.

Investment support decision

Apply to the Polish Investment Zone manager for a corporate income tax exemption, tied to investment size, job creation and location.

Staff and residence

Workers from outside the EU, including resident board members, need a work or residence permit. The Polish Investment & Trade Agency helps investors with these procedures free of charge.
